This week this truly dedicated young lady who has made it her mission for over 30 years to mold and allow her students to succeed with small and large wins. Patricia Atkinson who received a dual degree in Education and Human Services. She has been teaching Life Skills at Littleton High School since 2019. Starting her teaching career in Northern NH she has moved around based on being close to home for her children. She spent 5 years at the Davenport School in Jefferson and mentioned that was one school she loved and she loved the program. The school closed and that is when she found her new home at Littleton HIgh School. She is so passionate about watching her students shine. She never gives up on them. She loves kids and wants them to win in life. When asked what she was thought when she saw the post, Pamela said ” I was appreciative of the opportunity but it will be a long shot. If I did win, I would purchase some specific furniture for my students. A better way for them to learn and feel comfortable when they do their work. To her surprise prior to the drawing, Pamela found out that the school had written a grant and they were blessed with $10,000. Pamela could not believe it. With that money she did purchase all of the new furniture, new desks and chairs, washer and dryer and a dish washer. When Pamela found out that she won our giveaway, she got with the students to see what they could do with the money. They asked if they could open a school store. Pamela thought this was an amazing idea. This would allow the students to work with the public, understand cashiering and money, purchasing inventory, budgeting and much more. Pam has reached out to administration for approval. It should be a go but a few more details need to be worked out. When asked what she loves about her job, she replied ” I truly love to see those smiles when a student gets what they are working on. It is building their confidence to got out when they graduate and be a productive member of the community. I also love it when they leave, they still connect with me. I want to know what they are doing. If they need anything, I will be there for them. One other item that I would wish for…I wish that there was more time in the day. The day go by so fast and it is challenging and fun at the same time. I just want more time my students.” We are so excited for you and excited to see how the school store gives the students encouragement and confidence towards their independence. On Saturday morning we had the pleasure to meet and congratulate this passionate young lady who stopped by to pick up her $1000 of Amazon Gift Cards. For 37 years and counting, Celine Leborgne of the Berlin Public School system has been getting up everyday during the school year and bringing her best effort to her 1st grade students. Graduating from Plymouth State College with a Bachelors degree in Education, Celine immediately started her teaching career in Berlin right after her diploma was inked. When asked what keeps her going after 37 years she answered, “Its the kids!! I love the kids. I love working towards seeing that light bulb turn on when my students finally get it after working through their struggles and work. I also absolutely love the hugs I get and give. It tells them that I am here for them and this is an awesome place to be. It is their safe place.” Every morning Celine has a meeting with the kids and she conducts an activity with them to get them moving and thinking. She also shares a message of the day that gives the students her expectations and what they will be working towards. It allows us to focus on the same thing throughout the day. Celine mentioned that this is her most challenging year. That doesn’t discourage her. She puts on that infectious smile and brings her best everyday with the students best interests in mind. Celine plans to share her winnings with her 1st grade team of teachers. She wants to purchase some easy reader books and additional supplies for her classroom and for the other teachers. One of those items was POST IT NOTES. She was told by her fellow colleagues that because she won the $1000 she can splurge on post it notes for the group. She laughed and told them that they should not worry. “I will buy post it notes for everyone.” Thank you Celine for all you do.
