At Littleton Chevrolet, we sell a very good amount of electric vehicles to many New Hampshire, Vermont, Maine and Massachussetts residents. We researched what are the current tax credits as of the beginning of October 2023? Here is some information for you to gain some perspective.
Vermont
- State tax credit: Up to $5,000 for the purchase or lease of a new electric vehicle (EV).
- Utility rebates:
- Burlington Electric Department (BED): Up to $3,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV, $1,400 for the purchase or lease of a used EV, and $900 for the installation of a home charger.
- Green Mountain Power (GMP): Up to $3,200 for the purchase or lease of a new EV and $0.14274/kWh credit on electricity used to charge the EV.
- Stowe Electric: Up to $1,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV and $750 for the purchase or lease of a new plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV).
- Vermont Electric Co-op (VEC): $500 bill credit for the purchase or lease of a new or pre-owned EV and a $250 bill credit for the purchase or lease of a new or pre-owned PHEV.
New Hampshire
- State tax credit: Up to $1,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV.
- Utility rebates:
- New Hampshire Electric Cooperative (NHEC): $1,000 rebate for the purchase or lease of a new or used EV, $600 rebate for the purchase or lease of a new or used PHEV, and $300 rebate for the purchase or lease of a new or used electric motorcycle.
Maine
- State tax credit: $500 to $7,500, depending on income, for the purchase of a new EV or PHEV.
Massachusetts
- State rebate: Up to $3,500 for the purchase or lease of a new EV, depending on the make and model of the vehicle.
- Utility rebates:
- Eversource: Up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV, $1,000 for the purchase or lease of a used EV, and $500 for the installation of a home charger.
- National Grid: Up to $2,000 for the purchase or lease of a new EV, $1,000 for the purchase or lease of a used EV, and $500 for the installation of a home charger.
In addition to the state and utility incentives listed above, there is also a federal tax credit of up to $7,500 for the purchase of a new EV.
