Here are some things you can do to get your vehicle ready for summer trips:

  • Check and adjust tire pressure, including the spare. Hot weather can cause tire pressure to increase, so it’s important to make sure your tires are inflated to the correct pressure as specified in your owner’s manual.

  • Inspect your tires for wear and tear. Look for any cracks, bulges, or uneven tread wear. If you see any signs of damage, it’s best to get your tires replaced before you hit the road.
  • Top off all of your vehicle’s fluids. This includes engine oil, coolant, brake fluid, power steering fluid, and windshield washer fluid.
  • Test your battery. A dead battery can ruin a summer trip. Have your battery tested by a mechanic or auto parts store to make sure it’s in good condition.
  • Check your wiper blades. Summer storms can be unpredictable, so make sure your wiper blades are in good condition and can clear the rain effectively.
  • Give your car a good cleaning and waxing. This will help to protect the paint from the sun’s harmful rays.
  • Pack an emergency kit. This should include a flashlight, jumper cables, a first-aid kit, a fire extinguisher, and some basic tools.

By following these tips, you can help to ensure that your vehicle is ready for a safe and enjoyable summer trip.  Let our Littleton Chevrolet check your vehicle over before you head out on your trip.  You can schedule an appointment by clicking here or call us at 603.444.1999.
