Littleton Chevrolet's Blog - Winter Warriors: How to Protect Your Vehicle During a Storm

Winter storms are more than just a reason to stock up on bread and milk; they are a direct challenge to your vehicle’s health. From road salt eating away at your paint to freezing temperatures zapping your battery, the elements are not kind to cars. Whether you’re parking on the street or preparing for a snowy commute, here is your definitive guide to protecting your vehicle this winter. 1. Pre-Storm Maintenance: The Best Defense The best way to survive a storm is to prepare before the first snowflake falls. Test Your Battery: Cold weather can reduce a battery's cranking power by up to 50%. If your battery is more than three years old, have it tested. Switch to Winter-Grade Fluids: Use windshield washer fluid rated for -30°C or lower. Also, ensure your coolant (antifreeze) is at the proper concentration—usually a 50/50 mix—to prevent your engine block from freezing. Check Tire Pressure: For every 10° drop in temperature, tires can lose about 1 PSI of pressure. Under-inflated tires reduce traction and increase wear. 2. Smart Parking Strategies Where you park can be the difference between a quick departure and an hour of shoveling. Avoid the "Plow Zone": If you park on the street, try to find a spot away from main snowplow routes to avoid your car being buried under a mountain of heavy, packed snow. The Wiper Trick: Pull your windshield wipers up and away from the glass. This prevents the rubber from freezing to the windshield and makes it easier to clear ice later. Mind the Trees: Heavy snow and ice can snap branches. Avoid parking under large trees or power lines that could fall and cause significant body damage. 3. Protecting the Exterior from "The Silent Killer" Road salt is great for safety but terrible for metal. It accelerates rust and can ruin your vehicle’s finish. Wax Before the Storm: Apply a high-quality wax or sealant before winter hits. This creates a sacrificial barrier between the salt and your paint. The Undercarriage Wash: Once the storm passes and roads dry, visit a car wash that offers an undercarriage spray. This removes salt from the most vulnerable metal components under your car. 4. Your Winter Survival Kit Every vehicle should have a "Go-Bag" for winter emergencies. At a minimum, yours should include: Traction Aids: A bag of sand or non-clumping kitty litter. Visibility Tools: A sturdy ice scraper, snow brush, and a flashlight with extra batteries. Survival Gear: Heavy blankets, extra gloves, and a portable phone charger. The Fuel Rule: Never let your gas tank drop below half. This prevents moisture from freezing in the fuel lines and ensures you have enough fuel to run the heater if you get stuck. What if you get stuck? If the worst happens and you find yourself stranded, stay with your vehicle. It is your best shelter and makes you easier for rescuers to find. If you run the engine for heat, ensure the exhaust pipe is clear of snow to prevent carbon monoxide buildup inside the cabin. Hope this got you mind thinking. Stay safe out there everyone. The Golden Era of the Moore Dam Regatta: When Littleton Made Waves

If you grew up in the North Country during the 1980s, you remember the specific electricity that filled the air every summer. It wasn’t just the heat; it was the roar of engines and the sight of thousands of people descending upon the Moore Dam Reservoir. The Moore Dam Regatta was more than just a boat race—it was a cultural phenomenon that put Littleton, New Hampshire, on the map in a way few events ever had before. The Visionaries Behind the Splash The Regatta didn't just happen by accident; it was the brainchild of a group of local movers and shakers who wanted to prove that Littleton was a destination, not just a pass-through town. The event was spearheaded by the Littleton Area Chamber of Commerce and a dedicated committee of local business owners leading the charge. Their goal was simple but ambitious: utilize the massive, often-underused 3,500-acre Moore Reservoir to create a world-class powerboat racing event. A Decade of High-Octane Glory The Regatta hit its stride in the early to mid-1980s. For about a decade, the event grew from a local gathering into a sanctioned Northeast powerhouse. It featured everything from: Stock Outboard Racing: Small, nimble boats that skipped across the choppy reservoir water. Hydros and Runabouts: High-performance machines that reached eye-watering speeds. Family Festivals: Beyond the water, the shores were packed with food vendors, live music, and the famous "Regatta Dances." While the logistics and rising costs eventually saw the event wind down by the early 90s, those years in the 80s remain the "Golden Era" for many locals. What It Did for Littleton and the North Country The impact of the Moore Dam Regatta reached far beyond the water's edge. It served three major purposes for our region: 1. An Economic Engine During Regatta weekend, every hotel room from Littleton, Franconia, St. Johnsbury and beyond was booked solid. Local restaurants, gas stations, and shops saw their biggest weekends of the year. It injected hundreds of thousands of dollars into the local economy at a time when the North Country was transitioning away from its heavy industrial roots. 2. Putting the "North Country" on the Map The Regatta was a sanctioned event that drew racers and spectators from all over New England, New York, and Canada. It proved that Littleton had the infrastructure and the community spirit to host "big city" events. It gave the town a sense of pride and a distinct identity. 3. Community Cohesion Perhaps most importantly, it brought the town together. Hundreds of volunteers worked side-by-side to manage the crowds and the safety logistics. It was the "can't miss" social event of the year where neighbors met on the banks of the Connecticut River to celebrate summer in the White Mountains. A Lasting Legacy Though the roar of the engines has faded and the Moore Reservoir is back to its peaceful, scenic state, the spirit of the Regatta lives on. It taught Littleton how to dream big—a spirit you can still see today in our thriving Main Street and community festivals. Did you attend the Regatta back in the day? We’d love to hear your favorite memories—whether it was the sound of the starting gun or the taste of a fried dough in the summer sun! Photo Credit - Ben Lemay

2027-Chevrolet-Silverado-1500-AI-Rendering-Based-On-Patent-Filing-Drawings-006

The King Reimagined: First Look at the All-New 2027 Chevrolet Silverado 1500

For truck enthusiasts, the arrival of a new generation is like a national holiday. The current Silverado has been a powerhouse since 2019, but with the competition heating up from Ford and Ram, Chevrolet is preparing a ground-up overhaul for the 2027 model year. Recent patent filings and spy shots have pulled back the curtain on what to expect. If you’re a fan of the Crew Cab—the bread and butter of the Silverado lineup—the 2027 redesign is shaping up to be the most high-tech, aggressive version yet. 1. Exterior: A More Chiseled Profile The 2027 Silverado moves away from the rounded edges of the current model in favor of a more "squared-off" and "modern-industrial" look. The "Face" of the Future: New design patents reveal a front fascia inspired by the latest Chevy Tahoe and Suburban. Expect C-shaped LED daytime running lights that hook around the main headlamp units. Pronounced Fenders: The Crew Cab's profile looks more muscular, with flared wheel arches that provide a wider, more planted stance. Tailgate Evolution: The rear features elongated taillights (similar to the Silverado EV) and a refined Multi-Flex tailgate. The "CHEVROLET" lettering is rumored to be replaced by a clean, prominent Bowtie emblem. 2. Interior: The Tech Revolution The biggest complaint about earlier Silverados was the interior. Chevy fixed that in 2022, but for 2027, they are going even further. Giant Horizontal Displays: Spy photos show a massive, integrated screen layout. Rather than the vertical "tablet" style seen in some competitors, Chevy is doubling down on a panoramic horizontal screen that stretches from the driver’s gauge cluster across the center dash—likely a 33-inch display similar to those in recent Cadillacs. Column Shifter Returns: In a move that will please traditionalists, it appears the console-mounted shifter is being moved back to the steering column. This frees up a massive amount of storage space in the center console for wireless chargers and deep bins. Ultifi Platform: The truck will run on GM’s new Ultifi software system, allowing for faster over-the-air updates, deeper app integration, and "smart" features that learn your driving habits. 3. Powertrains: The End of the 5.3L? General Motors has invested nearly $1 billion into a sixth-generation Small Block V8. New V8 Displacements: Rumors (and GM Authority reports) suggest the long-running 5.3L and 6.2L engines may be retired. In their place, we expect two new V8s: a 5.7L and a high-performance 6.6L gas engine. Hybrid Power: For the first time, these engines are expected to feature electrification (Hybrid/PHEV) to meet stricter emissions standards while providing an instant torque boost. Reliability Fixes: The new engine architecture is designed to permanently address "lifter failure" and "Dynamic Fuel Management" issues that plagued some previous models. 4. Off-Road Dominance: The 35-Inch Club The ZR2 trim is getting a massive upgrade. For years, Silverado fans have asked for larger tires from the factory. 35-Inch Tires: Spy shots of 2027 prototypes show the truck finally sitting on 35-inch Goodyear Territory MT tires. Enhanced Suspension: To accommodate the larger rubber, the 2027 Silverado features a redesigned suspension geometry with even more wheel travel, aimed squarely at the Ford Raptor and Ram RHO. When Can You Buy It? While official dates haven't been set, the industry expects a full reveal in early 2026, with the 2027 Silverado 1500 Crew Cab hitting dealership lots in the Fall of 2026. Note: Initial production will likely prioritize high-end trims like the High Country, ZR2, and Trail Boss before the Work Truck and Custom trims follow. LITTLETON CHEVROLET BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT ---Curated with Love: Discovering "Brown Paper Packages" in Bethlehem, NH

If you’ve taken a stroll down Main Street in Bethlehem lately, you might have noticed a charming new addition to the town’s eclectic storefronts. Brown Paper Packages, located at 2053 Main Street, officially opened its doors in December 2024, and it has quickly become a local and visitor favorite for anyone looking for that "just right" gift. Founded by Alyssa Schoenfeld—the entrepreneur behind the successful Bites of Boston Food Tours —this boutique is more than just a retail shop; it’s a celebration of craftsmanship, community, and the art of giving. From Food Tours to Gift Boxes Alyssa’s journey to Bethlehem is a story of resilience. When the pandemic halted her food tour business in Boston, she pivoted to creating curated gift boxes that featured local makers. What started as a way to support fellow small business owners during a crisis blossomed into a passion for product curation. After moving to the North Country with her husband, Mike, Alyssa found the perfect brick-and-mortar home for her brand. The shop reflects her personal philosophy: "Everything in the store is something that I would either use, eat, or decorate my own house with." What’s Inside the Package? The shop specializes in goods from small-batch makers, with a heavy emphasis on women-owned businesses throughout New England. When you walk in, you’ll find: Handmade Ornaments: From White Mountain hikers to ceramic New Hampshire shapes, these are perfect for locals and visitors alike. Artisan Home Goods: Think hand-poured candles, luxe soaps, and unique pottery. Curated Gift Boxes: Alyssa’s signature service. You can choose from pre-assembled collections or work with the staff to build a custom box that is—true to the name—tied up with string. Local Edibles: A nod to her foodie roots, featuring treats you won't find in a typical grocery aisle. A Meaningful Addition to Main Street What makes Brown Paper Packages stand out is its commitment to storytelling. Many of the artisans featured don't have their own storefronts, and Alyssa takes pride in giving their work a platform. It fits perfectly into Bethlehem's "Small Acts Community" spirit, offering a warm, welcoming space where every item has a face and a story behind it. Whether you're shopping for a birthday, a housewarming gift, or just a little something to brighten your own home, this shop makes the experience feel personal and intentional. "THE PLACE ABOVE THE NOTCH"...LITTLETON CHEVROLET GIVING OUT THE LOVE WITH OUR BLOG SPOTLIGHT...More Than Just a Caffeine Kick: How "The Place Above the Notch" is Redefining the Coffee Shop

In the heart of Bethlehem, New Hampshire, there’s a quiet revolution happening on Main Street. While most coffee shops are designed to move people in and out as quickly as possible, The Place Above the Notch is doing something radically different. They aren’t just selling lattes and New York-style bagels; they are selling space, connection, and a new way to do business in the White Mountains. Founded by Angie and Steve Cleveland, this isn’t your average "grab-and-go" cafe. It’s a community hub that serves as a living room, a professional office, and a high-end roastery all under one roof. A Business Built on "The Space" The most innovative part of their business model is The Space Above the Notch, a dedicated coworking wing designed specifically for the modern professional. In a world where remote work is the new norm, many North Country residents find themselves stuck between a lonely home office and a noisy public cafe. The Place Above the Notch bridges that gap by offering: Professional Amenities: High-speed internet that actually works (a luxury in the mountains!) and a sound-resistant "Telephone Booth" for private Zoom calls or sensitive client meetings. Flexible Access: You can book "Just Give Me a Day" for a quick $20 drop-in or opt for 10 and 20-visit monthly subscriptions. Collaborative Vibes: By bringing together freelancers, entrepreneurs, and creators, they’ve created a "water cooler" effect where local business owners can network organically over a morning brew. The "Living Room" Experience While the coworking side handles the "hustle," the cafe side handles the "heart." The shop features an eclectic, cozy atmosphere with comfortable couches and a layout that encourages you to stay a while. Whether you're meeting a friend to catch up, playing a board game during one of their community nights, or browsing their selection of local artisan goods, there is zero pressure to rush. They’ve successfully cultivated a "third place"—that essential spot outside of home and work where community actually happens. Quality with a Conscience The Clevelands aren’t just innovators in real estate; they are masters of the craft. They roast their own beans in-house using a Diedrich IR-5 roaster, focusing on fair-trade, shade-grown beans. Their menu is a love letter to the Northeast, featuring: Brooklyn-style Bagels: Real-deal New York bagels with creative cream cheeses. Local Pastries: Sourced from the Polish Princess Bakery. The Bethlehem Bento Box: A curated charcuterie spread designed for hikers and skiers heading into the Notch. Why It Matters The Place Above the Notch is a Registered Benefits Corporation (B-Corp), meaning they prioritize social and environmental responsibility alongside profit. By offering a workspace for local businesses and a welcoming area for friends to gather, they are proving that a coffee shop can be the economic and social engine of a small town. In Bethlehem, business isn't just about transactions anymore—it’s about shared space and shared success. Check them out at...https://www.theplaceabovethenotch.com/

LITTLETON CHEVROLET BLOG SPOTLIGHT - One students reaction to the Sweethearts and Heroes Presentation...A Poem - HOPES AND DREAMS

On Monday, November 10th, Littleton Chevrolet sponsored another round of Sweethearts and Heroes. This time it was at the Danville School. Sweethearts and Heroes focus is on students and teachers to discuss and converse about Hope, Bullying, Suicide and Leadership. This is a powerful session that leaves each student and teacher walking away with a different perspective. This week the Principal shared with us a poem that one of her 8th graders wrote as he felt inspired to put pen to paper. Below is his poem. We wanted to share with the world. Let me ask you a few questions, Do you have hope in your life? Do you have dreams? Because you need to have hope in your life if you want to live, Because if you don’t you will get sick of your life, And we might just take that knife, And end everything because you don’t think you have any more Possibilities in your life, But once I had someone come to my school and teach me the True Meaning of Hope, He told us it means, “Hold On Possibilities Exist”, And you have to hold on to the possibilities in your life, Because many of them exist and they are your dreams, And while giving up on hope is giving up your dreams, You know, I never understand why we don’t go back to our Dreams After we have given up on them, And why we give up our lives, And we do it for only a dime, Even though our lives are worth so much more than that, We can’t put a price on the gift of life that God has given us, And God says if you ever feel hopeless, remember him and the Sacrifices that he made, Because God sacrificed his son because he loved us so much, And he doesn’t want you to live under depression, The person who came to my school also shared something else, It was an experiment that was made in the 1950s, The scientist behind it took a handful of mice and tossed them in A Bucket of water, And they all drowned within 15 minutes because they had no Hope That they would make it, Then he took a second handful and tossed them into the bucket, But then when they were starting to drown he dove his hands into The bucket and let them rest just for a little bit, And when he put the mice back into the bucket, They were swimming for days because they had hope, They had a dream that the hand would come back in to save Them, All that being said, This poem can't make you do anything or Change you, But if it did, Go give someone hope This is pretty awesome. Littleton Chevrolet is so proud to partner with Sweethearts and Heroes in order to make a difference in the students and teachers lives and outlook. Want to know more about the presenters? LITTLETON CHEVROLET COMMUNITY BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT - 🍎 Rooted in Community: Why Meadowstone Farm is the Heart of Bethlehem, NH

There’s a special kind of magic in knowing exactly where your food comes from. Here in Bethlehem, NH, we're incredibly fortunate to have that connection right in our backyard with Meadowstone Farm. More than just a place to buy outstanding produce and ethically raised meats, Meadowstone is a vibrant hub that enriches our community in countless ways. Let’s dig into why this farm is so vital and celebrate the importance of having fresh, local, "beyond organic" goodness just a stone's throw away! 🌱 Cultivating Community: The Meadowstone Difference Meadowstone Farm is a testament to the power of thoughtful, cyclical farming and deep community engagement. Owners Tim and Jess have not just revitalized an old New England dairy; they've built an interconnected system that supports everything from local health to environmental stewardship. Beyond the Farm Stand A Dedication to Education: Meadowstone is home to the Woodland Community School, a private day school that integrates the farm environment into its curriculum. They also host school groups and farm camps, giving the next generation a critical, hands-on appreciation for agriculture and where their food originates. Closing the Loop with Composting: The farm operates an impressive food scraps and composting program, supporting local businesses, municipalities, and schools in Northern Grafton County. They divert thousands of pounds of food waste from landfills weekly, turning it into rich compost that feeds their fields—a powerful example of sustainability in action. Direct Local Support: They consistently give back by donating a portion of their harvest to local food pantries and dinners, ensuring that healthy, fresh food is available to those who need it most. They also inspire home growing by providing compost and seedlings to local community gardens. A "Beyond Organic" Philosophy: While they previously held the certification, Meadowstone now operates with a philosophy that focuses on the inter-relationships between animal, plant, and soil nutrient cycles. They invite the community to visit, ask questions, and be the "ultimate certifiers" of their commitment to sustainability and quality. This focus is about creating products that are truly superior in taste and nutrition. 🥕 The Power of Fresh, Local, and Ethically Raised Food Why is it so important to have a resource like Meadowstone Farm right here in the North Country? The benefits of supporting local, responsible agriculture are immense, touching on our health, our economy, and our environment. 1. Maximize Health and Flavor When you buy from Meadowstone, you are buying produce that was often picked at its peak ripeness, not weeks before to survive a cross-country journey. Peak Nutrition: The moment fruits and vegetables are harvested, they begin to lose nutrients. Local food travels less distance and time to your table, meaning you get the most vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants possible. Unbeatable Taste: That short "farm-to-table" journey preserves the natural texture and vibrant flavor that is simply lost in long-haul commercial produce. A Meadowstone tomato actually tastes like a tomato! Ethical Meats: Their pastured animals—pigs, goats, and chickens—are raised with care, fed organic grain, and rotated through pastures. This not only results in higher quality meat (pork, beef, and goat cheese!) but is also a more humane and environmentally sustainable practice. 2. Boost Our Local Economy Every dollar spent at Meadowstone Farm is an investment directly into our community's financial health. Keeps Money Local: Your money stays in Bethlehem, supporting local farmers and their employees, which then circulates as they spend money at other local businesses, from hardware stores to feed suppliers. Fosters Resilience: By supporting local food systems now, we build a robust, independent supply chain that makes our region more self-sufficient and adaptable during national crises or transportation disruptions. 3. Protect Our Environment Local farming practices, like those at Meadowstone, are inherently kinder to the planet. Reduced Carbon Footprint: Fewer "food miles" mean less fuel is burned transporting your meal.
