When we asked what she loves most, she said, "I love how supportive my fellow teachers are along with administration. The relationships and connections that I have been able to make through the years have been invaluable." She also shared a powerful belief that learning can't happen unless students feel safe and loved, a philosophy she lives by every day. Rachel also spoke candidly about the challenges she's faced, particularly since the pandemic. "When Covid happened, it was just an unimaginable shift," she shared. "Now with them being on their screens all the time, their connections went away... It has been hard to work through that and get them back on track. I feel that we are almost on the other side where we can have good conversations. Reteaching them to work with each other along with giving them the skills in team building." We are so excited to announce the final winner of our Littleton Chevrolet Teacher Giveaway! Please join us in congratulating Maci MacKillop, a dedicated 2nd-grade teacher at Lakeway Elementary School right here in Littleton. This year marks the start of Maci's third year teaching, and we couldn't be more impressed with her journey. After graduating from Plymouth State University in 2023 with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education, Maci didn't stop there. She is currently working toward her Master's degree in Curriculum and Design from Southern New Hampshire University. It’s truly refreshing to see such a young and passionate educator so committed to her students and her career. We asked Maci what she loves most about being a teacher, and her answer was so heartwarming. "I have always loved kids," she said. "Even in high school, I did a lot of babysitting and I really enjoyed my time with them." She went on to explain how rewarding it is to help her students develop relationships and grow as people. "In 2nd grade, it's the perfect opportunity to encourage them and see them grow. Their social and emotional growth is so important at this age. As they grow during the year, they begin to build friendships and independence." She loves seeing the unique things that make each of her students special. Maci also shared her appreciation for the support system at her school. She noted that her fellow teachers often meet as a group to discuss student concerns, data and testing, and the social and emotional aspects of a student's journey. When asked about the biggest challenge she faces as a teacher, Maci’s response was simple and selfless: "I just don't have enough time in the day to get everything that I want to do with the students. I just want to keep helping them grow." Her desire to do more for her students, even with the limited time she has, is truly inspiring. She plans to invest in more manipulatives for her classroom, including cards, tiles, base-10 blocks, and dice. These hands-on math tools will help her students learn in a fun and engaging way. At Littleton Chevrolet, we are so excited to celebrate the amazing teachers in our community! We're thrilled to announce our first Teachers Giveaway winner, the wonderful and dedicated, Sarah Knudson from Woodsville Elementary School. Sarah, a 3rd-grade teacher who lives in North Haverhill, NH, stopped by the dealership to pick up her prize—one of four $500 Amazon gift cards to help get her classroom ready for the new school year. "I was in total shock...I never win anything," Sarah told us, but we're so glad she did! With over 30 years of experience, she's a true veteran in her field, getting her start in the Claremont School District before coming to Woodsville 12 years ago. She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Hartwick College in Oneonta, New York. The start of this school year was a bit rocky, with construction delays preventing teachers from getting into their classrooms. "We finally got the word that we could begin the process of prepping our classrooms," Sarah said. "We did not have much time to prep, but everyone came together to get ready for our students." When we asked what she loves most about her career, Sarah's passion was clear. "In the 3rd grade, it is their growth...that lightbulb goes off," she explained. "The growth they make in reading, writing, math and building relationships with new friends." She also loves to discuss important life lessons with her students, like "showing kindness, responsibility, and being respectful to one another...that is like our school mantra." As for her winnings, Sarah is considering buying something she knows will engage her students: "Graphic novels (comic book types) have been a moving point for our students. They really get into it. LITTLETON CHEVROLET'S TEACHER GIVEAWAY - The school year is just getting off the ground and we are so excited to announce our next Littleton Chevrolet Teacher Giveaway winner! This giveaway is our way of helping amazing local educators get their classrooms ready or purchase items of need for another year of teaching and making a difference. Last week we met with our winner and today we're celebrating Linda Poulin, the incredible Speech and Language Pathologist at Berlin Elementary! Linda has been a dedicated SLP for 22 years, and she leads a talented team of assistant SLPs. Linda's path to this career is truly inspiring. She went back to school at 41, earning her Bachelor's in 2001 and later her Master of Science in Communications. In fact, she was the first assistant SLP in the State of New Hampshire! Over the years, Linda has held many different roles, including a Nurse's Aide and Para Professional, and she even had her own private practice. She is also a feeding and swallowing consultant for Special Medical Services who sees North Country children in collaboration with a pediatric dietitian. But what truly stands out is her deep commitment to her students. Linda and her team work specifically with Kindergarten and 1st-grade students, helping them find their voices. Last year alone, they worked with a caseload of 70 students! When we asked Linda what she loves most about her career, she shared, "I care. I care about the students deeply and want to see them taking steps to improve." Her work has led to some truly special moments. She told us about a young boy who used an Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) device—a tablet that helps students with speech impairments communicate—to tell his mom he loved her. What a powerful moment! Linda told us, "We do not do what we do because of the pay, we do what we do because we want to make a difference in a child’s life." To help Linda and her team continue their vital work, we were thrilled to give her a $500 Amazon Gift Card! When we asked what she plans to do with the money, she said they have been looking to purchase a sensory swing for their students. A sensory swing provides therapeutic input for kids with sensory processing challenges, and it will be a wonderful addition to their classroom.
